Song of the Week: I Love You - Woodkid
In this weeks pick for song of the week features French singer and songwriter Woodkid's single I Love You. Woodkid delivers a melancholic song about an unrequited love and the despair and loneliness and that follow. The video begins with a seemingly dead child lying on the floor (The same boy from Woodkid's "Iron" and "Run Boy" singles) and this immediately sets the dark tone sustained throughout the song. A young man stands before a church and says, in Russian, "Today I shall tell you the story of a man who drowned in a cold ocean, having lost the one I loved. It is a story about a man who died twice" The track is backed by violins, drums, and his own voice whilst the sombre black and white music video delivers stunning and emotive visuals leaving the listener as desolate and empty as the singer.
